Shotgun Range Location & Contact Information — MSA's Permian Basin Shotgun Range is located 1.5 miles south of Interstate 20 on FM 1788, between Midland and Odessa [click for locator map]. The address and phone are 5911 South FM 1788, Midland, Texas; 432.563.5116. Memberships can be applied for or renewed at this location, however access to the rifle/pistol range requires an orientation class held the first 3 Saturdays of each month. Feel free to call for more information.

Range Services — The range is a full-facility shotgun range offering Trap, Skeet, Five Stand, and Sporting Clay Shooting. The range keeps 6 skeet fields, 3 automatic trap fields, an 8-machine five stand and a 10-station sporting Clays course. Voice calls are available for all of the games so members can shoot alone if they choose.

Range Rules:

  1. All shooters must sign in at the office prior to shooting

  2. Only Shotguns are allowed at this location

  3. Shooting is permitted only in designated areas

  4. Firearms are to be loaded only after reaching shooting stations. 2 rounds maximum can be loaded in a firearm

  5. Never leave a shooting field with a loaded gun

  6. Assume your gun is loaded at all times and keep it pointed in a safe direction

  7. Do not step on controllers (Voice controls are available if you are a single shooter)

  8. Do not harm or harass the wildlife (If you see a rattlesnake, advise management immediately.)

  9. Children must be supervised by an adult on and off of the shooting fields

  10. Small children and pets are to kept off of shooting fields

  11. Sportsman-like behavior is to be maintained at all times

  12. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the shooting fields

  13. Shot larger than 7.5 is strictly prohibited

  14. Skeet shooters must load machines before and after shooting

  15. ALL shooters are responsible for picking up their hulls

  16. No vehicles (except golf carts or ATV’s) are allowed on the Sporting Clay course

  17. Hearing & eye protection is required for all shooters and observers on shooting fields

  18. If a malfunction of a trap occurs advise management. DO NOT try to fix it yourself

  19. All trash (shell boxes, cans, target boxes, cigarette butts, etc…) are to be placed in the proper disposal receptacles

  20. Only club furnished targets are allowed and hand throwers are forbidden

Violation of any of the above mentioned will result in any one or all of the following actions depending on severity:

  • Immediate dismissal from the range
  • Non-refundable revocation of MSA Membership
  • Charges for damaged property

Events & Prices — NSSA, and NSCA registered shoots are held from January through December. League shooting events are scheduled during the spring, summer and fall. The Pro Shop is stocked with shotgun ammunition, apparel and reloading supplies used by most shooters. Member cost for Trap and Skeet is $6.00 for 25 targets, Five Stand is $8.00 for 25 targets, and Sporting Clays is $32.00 for 100 targets. Golf cart rental for Sporting Clays is also available at a cost of $10.00 per round. Members can bring as many guests as they would like as long as they are shooting on the same fields with their guests.
